Recent data released by the World Health Organisation (WHO) states that cardiovascular disease is the first cause of death worldwide. These data apply to both the adult and the paediatric population affected by congenital heart disease. While adult cardiovascular centres are present in almost all countries around the world, paediatric centres are still poorly represented, particularly in continents such as Africa, Asia, and Eastern European nations.
In an attempt to alleviate this shortcoming, GKSD President and Vice President of the San Donato Group Kamel Ghribi together with the Tunisian Health Minister and members of the Gruppo San Donato International Team were witnesses of the “Children’s Heart Catherization Room” inauguration at La Rabta Hospital.
As success comes from being united the excellent teamwork of our team has allowed the group to provide a humanitarian gift that will improve the health and life quality of children suffering from heart disease. This highly specialised examination room will provide essential diagnostic imaging equipment that can allow cardiologist to see the arteries and chambers of the heart and successfully treat any stenosis or abnormalities found. The Rabat CATH lab was named in honour of GKSD President Kamel Ghribi and carries both his name and his vision.
